James Bond actor Daniel Craig, 39, is going for a new look after buying three flat caps - reports the Northern Echo.
The star popped into a North Yorkshire country outfitters with three friends to try on an array of caps.
Locals in Helmsley were shocked at his choice of headwear after seeing him emerge from Carter's Country Wear.
One said: "Most of the people who shop there are hunting, shooing and fishing types and farmers.
"I just can't imagine James Bond in a flat cap, he'll look more like Victor Meldrew."
Craig, who starred in the latest Bond film Casino Royale bought three flat caps in Carter's before leaving with friends in a Land Rover.
Jane Debenham who lives in Pockley, near Helmsley, assisted Craig but had no idea who he was.
"It could hardly have been less exciting because I didn't have a clue who he was," she said.
"He came in with three friends and was absolutely charming.
"He tried on lots of caps and he and his friends had lots of laughs about what he looked like. He bought three of them in the end.
"She said she had no idea where Craig was staying or what he was doing in the area.
"I have seen some of the James Bond films but the maddening thing is that because I haven't seen Casino Royale I just didn't recognise him but I will definitely watch it now."
Mrs Debenham, 63, said that the blonde Chester-born star had orginally wanted some wellies - but she could only offer him pink ones.
"The only wellies we had were pink and he said that he didn't think they would really suit him.
"He wasn't acting like a superstar at all. He didn't for one moment make me think that he was anything other than a normal man."
Store manager Jeremy Shaw, who saw Craig at a cash machine outside the shop after he made his purchase, told Mrs Debenham she had just served a 'secret agent'.
"Jane couldn't believe it when I told her who he was. We checked the receipt slip for his signature and there it was: Daniel Craig.
"I get a lot of famous people in the shop but I've never had James Bond!"
