о чем
Two men become entangled in a torrid love affair with the same woman. Pierre is Miriam's (Heike Makatsch, Love Actually) longtime lover. John (Daniel Craig, Casino Royale) is desperately searching for clues about his past when he and Miriam have a fateful encounter in a Berlin train station. The allure of forbidden love becomes irresistible, and an intense love triangle is ignited. Who will Miriam choose? Who will walk away? For two men who desperately adore the same woman and for the woman who loves them equally...there is no easy way out.

I've seen them both, and you may want to save your money. LOL! I'm kidding, no but really.. Obsession is some farcical movie about a love triangle between Daniel, Heike and some other guy who plays "Pierre". The plot itself is so contrived and unbelievable.
Daniel plays a South African named "John", who goes to Germany on a quest to find information on a mysterious artifact that his late grandmother left behind. While there, he runs into Heike's character "Miriam", who plays the trumpet(the trumpet???)in an all girl band, and falls head-over-heals for her, unbeknownst to him - she already has a boyfriend. Anyway, no steamy sex, but you get a nice shot of his bare bottom in the scene on the train.

I really liked "Obsession" and did not like "Love and Rage". So that just goes to show you everyone has different taste. He was very sweet, very sexy, and very endearing in Obsession and was in a lot of scenes. He wasn't sweet or kind in "Love and Rage",in fact, he was kind of creepy [to me]-not a good person. The first time I watched it (Obsession) I thought it was kind of a strange movie. But as I went on to watch it a few more times...I rather enjoyed it and began to understand it a bit better. It is kind of comical at times (light funny) and it is kind of a quirky little movie that to some degree doesn't make much sense-I guess that might be why I liked it. Hee hee. How is that for a description? You just have to watch it to know what I mean. I really loved his role in it though. Plus you get to see him act along side his former real-life German girlfriend Heike of, I think, about 7 years. They made a very cute couple.

Yeah, Obsession was sort of weird but Daniel played this sweet, earnest good guy and I loved his character. You're right, Di, the ending was a metaphor for getting rid of your emotional baggage but it never did resolve the tri-relationship they were having but I guess it didn't really matter. I thought the film was going to be some stalker movie about obsession but it wasn't - just light and sort of silly and sometimes fun. I agree he and Heike made very sweet couple. She's really lovely.
